Roles, Mode and Trend Definitions

Scenario Mode Choices
Deterministic

Trend-weighted scenario modeling with linear logic. Produces structured outputs based on direct causal relationships between high-weighted trends and known geopolitical, economic, or environmental drivers.

Hybrid

Combines rule-based logic with narrative framing. Merges deterministic trend modeling with qualitative extrapolation to explore plausible futures that maintain analytic rigor while accounting for system-level uncertainty.

Narrative

Narrative foresight synthesis using trend-informed context. Constructs speculative yet grounded storylines to examine emerging risks, human behavior, and institutional dynamics under alternate future conditions.

Climate Change: Impacts including shifting agriculture, migration, biodiversity loss, water resource limitation, environmental and sea level impact, limited resource access; creation of climate winners and losers.

Authoritarianism: Weakening of democratic norms, rise of centralized executive power and suppression of dissent.

Pandemics: Persistent threat of global disease; strain on public health, health systems and trade.

Tariffs: Rise of protectionist policies, trade disputes, and non-tariff barriers.
